Robbing a Turf Safe

Last updated September 30, 2026

Every turf has a safe standing in it, filling with product for the gang that holds it. You can take it - if you can get the lock open and hold out while you do.

Before you go

  • You cannot rob your own gang's safe.
  • Finding it: every safe stands out in the open in the middle of its turf, right by the turf's label on your map. The label also names the gang that holds it, so you know whose safe you're hitting.
  • The safe only has anything in it while someone from the owning gang is online. Rob it while they are all offline and you will spend your time and your lockpicks on an empty box. So the owners can always come and defend it.
  • Check what is inside first. When a turf's contest window opens, the server announces how much is sitting in its safe and where it is. Gangs with the Lay of the Land perk can see every safe's contents on their map at any time.

Cracking it

The safe opens with lockpicks. Every trader sells a few in their general stock, and the Black Market Trader sells them in bulk. Picking takes 5 minutes (7.5 or 10 minutes if the gang has paid to reinforce it), and every lockpick has a high chance to break, so bring plenty.

Two things help:

  • Jail Breakers candy stops your lockpicks breaking while it lasts. Traders sell it with their candy, and it turns up in candy loot.
  • Steady Hands, sold only at the Black Market, makes you pick 30% faster for 5 minutes.

The alarm

The moment you stand at a safe with a lockpick on you, the alarm goes off:

  • the whole server is told, including how much is inside
  • the owning gang is warned
  • a marker goes on the map
  • zombies start coming for you in waves, and the fuller the safe, the bigger the waves

Stay near the safe while you pick. If you run off or die, the alarm stops.

Getting away with it

When the lock opens, take the product out. The server announces the robbery. Then carry it to the Black Market and sell it at the register, the same as the owners would: 2 chips a unit, 10 chips a Gold Bar. Anyone can kill you and take it on the way - a Getaway Stim from the Black Market Trader helps you outrun them.
